Associate LPN/LVN: Current licensure as LPN/LVN and one year of experience as LPN/LVN in urology nursing practice.
Non LPN/LVN Associates (technicians): Three years of in-service training under the supervision of a practicing urologists.



Urology Registered Nurse: Current licensure as an RN and one year of experience as an RN in urology nursing practice.

Advanced Practice: Nurses must meet same requirements as Urology Registered Nurse, plus have current recognition by their state board or nursing as a Nurse Practitioner and/or a Clinical Nurse Specialist, and hold a Master's Degree in Nursing.

After an investigation into the need for and utilization of Advanced Practice certification, the Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates (CBUNA) reports that it will be deleting two testing groups. Physician Assistants will no longer be offered the urology certification exam after May 31, 2010. Clinical Nurse Specialists will only be offered the Urology Registered Nursing exam through May 31, 2011.

If you wish to pursue CBUNA Certification as a CUCNS, it is highly recommended that you begin the application process as soon as possible. The Advanced Practice certification exam will be offered to Clinical Nurse Specialists in October 2010 and for the last time May 14, 2011, after which time they will only be offered the CURN exam.

Advanced Practice applicants: $275.00 - SUNA Members; $350.00 -

Special 1^st-time retake fee: $220.00 - SUNA member, $295 - Non-Member

 

$25.00 for applications postmarked after the deadline.

 

 

Spring 2010 (May 8, 2010) - 1st Deadline: March 12, 2010; 2nd Deadline: March 26, 2010 (accompanied with $25.00 late application fee if postmarked between March 13-26, 2010)

Fall 2010 (October 9, 2010) - 1st Deadline: August 13, 2010; 2nd Deadline: August 27, 2010 (accompanied with $25.00 late application fee if postmarked between August 14-27, 2010)
