C-NET is now offering the The Certified Clinical Hemodyalysis Technician Examination (CCHT) and the Medical Surgical Nursing Certification Examination (CMSRN) in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) Format. (The Nephrology Nursing and Dialysis Nursing Certification Exams will be added this fall!)

Q:  What is CBT?

A:  Computer-Based Testing is simply taking a test on a computer, using the keyboard and mouse to "flip through" and "answer"       your test questions that appear on a computer monitor.  Both the CMSRN exam and the CCHT exam are offered in the Computer-Based Test Format .

Q:   How does it work?

A:  Once C-Net clears a candidate's application for testing, the candidate will receive an official Exam Permit by mail. The official Exam Permit will provide a toll-free telephone number for the national CBT testing office for the candidate to call and recieve further information to reserve a time slot at a local computer facility for the CCHT Exam. The Exam Permit will also specify a 90-day window of time (approximately 3-months) in which the candidate must register for and take the exam.

Q:   Can I skip questions and return to them later to review them?

A:  Yes.  You can move throughout the exam just as you would with a Paper & Pencil exam.  On the toolbar menu, you will find an icon labeled "View" with a picture of a magnifying glass.  This button allows you to see all of the question numbers on the exam with the status of that question.  If you answered the questions, the number will have a printed "A" next to it.  If you skipped it and left it unanswered, it will have a printed "U" next to it. 

You can also tag any question - whether you have anwered it or not, in order to mark the question so that you will remember to return to it later for review.  The "TAG" icon is also on the toolbar menu, with a yellow checkmark.

Q:  What does the candidate need to bring with them to the CBT site?

A:
1) The Exam Permit mailed from C-NET.  Please note:  This cannot be reprinted at the computer test facility!  We suggest that you make sure you have your permit for testing in a safe place at least 5 days before the date that you scheduled your CBT exam.

2)  Candidates must bring a valid (non-expired) government issue ID bearing their photo and signature. The name on the identification must EXACTLY match the name under which the candidate registered for the exam appointment.

***FAILURE TO PRESENT PROPER ID OR THE EXAM PERMIT WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION OF YOUR APPOINTMENT. FOR CCHT APPLICANTS: APPLICANTS WILL BE CHARGED AN EXAM FEE OF $85! FOR CMSRN APPLICANTS: APPLICANT'S EXAM FEE WILL BE FORFEITED.  APPLICANTS MUST THEN REAPPLY WITH MSNCB.

Q:  What is a candidate NOT allowed to bring with them to the CBT site?

A:
1) Electronic devices and recording devices of any kind (including but not limited to cell phones, pagers, and cameras) are NOT permitted in the testing centers.

2) NO personal items should be brought to the testing centers. The testing center will not be responsible for any personal items, and suggests that you leave such items, i.e. bags and purses, study materials, notes, pencils, etc., in another safe place of your choosing.

 Because the only item allowed into the testing area is identification, we encourage test takers to leave personal items at home or locked securely in your car.

Q:   How do I reschedule my CBT exam?

A:  Each candidate will be given a 90-day window of time (approximately 3-months) in which they must register for and take the exam.   After scheduling a specific time slot with their local CBT testing facility, a candidate may choose to reschedule their exam, but MUST contact the national CBT testing office (at the toll-free number provided on the Exam Permit) to reschedule.  This MUST BE DONE NO LESS THAN 48 HOURS (Mon-Fri) before their original exam date. 

***FAILURE TO RESCHEDULE YOUR EXAM BEFORE 48 HOURS OF YOUR ORIGINAL TESTING SLOT WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION OF YOUR APPOINTMENT. FOR CCHT APPLICANTS: APPLICANTS WILL BE CHARGED AN EXAM FEE OF $85!
